We have worked in all types of wayside environments including:

• Every type of track and civil structure including mainline, interlocking, siding, passenger station, tunnel, elevated, bridge, in-street and storage yard/depot tracks including areas with marginal track ballast
• Every type of signalling arrangement including in cab with ATP/ATO, wayside fully signalled with ATP, wayside traffic lights only with train stop arrangements, and drive-on-sight, with applicable signalling territory transition zones
• Every type of power supply and propulsion system including exposure in high EMI areas
• Every type of  climate (e.g. hot/dusty/humid/ice-prone and with high daily temperature variance.)

 
Naturally we provide the full range of train positioning and control components. On board this includes the train protection and driver interfaces.  For the wayside, we excel in electronic control system and module applications, ground material installations, house/case build-up and wiring, and all required external interfaces to these apparatus. Where required we can supply traditional signalling elements such as:

• Interlocking vital and non-vital logic
• AF, DC-coded, phase-selective and OS track circuits, and overlay with highway crossing track circuits
• Cab signal code generation and trip stop utilization
• All types of signals, switch machine layout equipment and their control/monitoring functions
• Non-vital circuits, local control panels and programmable logic controller applications
• Vital and non-vital (e.g. code line) serial communications, including RF and fibre-optic media
• Event recording

 
Ansaldo STS can do far more than this traditional ‘signalling’ scope.  We can provide the full suite of information and communication sub-systems on a full turnkey basis taking complete responsibility for system integration. This can include GPS based vehicle positioning, traffic light prioritisation and interface to urban traffic light scheduling systems, passenger information and ticketing, security systems, electrical and mechanical services and power supplies, passenger counting, and all the support services needed to keep such systems at peak performance levels throughout their lives.
