Paris- London High Speed 1 (CTRL)
The Channel Tunnel Rail Link is the first High Speed Line signalling project
completed in UK. Ansaldo STS, already leader in High Speed signalling in
Europe, was among the main actors of this important project.
ATC/ATS signalling equipment of the Channel Tunnel - London high Speed
Line (High Speed One).
This project, carried out as part of a consortium with AMEY and CORNING for the
client URS (Union Railways South, subsidiary of RAILTRACK - section 1 only)
includes the study, the supply, the installation, tests and commissioning of
the signalling equipment of the two sections of the line:
CTRL section 1 & 2 presentation: Sections 1 & 2 Line: 70 km + 40 km
Running:
300 km/h (section 1) & 230 km/h (section 2)
Interlocking:
SEI-TVM
ATC:
TVM 430
Headway:
3 min
Interfaces with existing SSI and Eurotunnel TVM 430 systems
2 complex stations: Stratford and Ebbsfleet
1 complex terminal: St. Pancras with UK trackside
equipment
Status: Commercial Service since September 2003 (section 1) and November
2007 (section 2) St Pancras Station highlights: - Area fully controlled by the ITCS (4 ITCS) 31 signals, 120
routes
- UK Trackside equipment = HVI track circuit, line side signals Bombardier
optical fibber, HPSS points.
- ATP used on the area = KVB on the station
- Transition on the interfaces between KVB and TPWS/AWS.
- 4 interfaces with Network rail = North London Line, East cost main line,
Silo curve, Maintenance siding
- Control Centre (RCC) operating on the area and interfacing with 2 Network
rail control centre (Kings Cross & Camden Road)
Route Control Centre (Traffic Control): - Traffic Control and timetable management
- ARS (automatic route setting) / ACR (Automatic conflict
resolution)
- Possession & isolation management in connection with EMMIS
- Incident & Train delay reporting
- Interfacing with Network Rail control centre at the interfaces
EMMIS (electrical and Mechanical Management system) = SCADA - Monitoring more than 10 000 I/O
- Supply: trackside equipments ( RTU/DIOM) + central
equipment
Ansaldo STS, which held the technological leadership in the consortium,
carried out the signalling, ATC (TVM 430), traffic control and supervision.
Main equipment supplied by Ansaldo STS:
Wayside- 13 main signalling rooms (21 SEI)
- 500 UM 2000 Track circuits
- EMMIS (power SCADA)
- RCC (CTC + Time table management)
- Hot box detection
- Signalling cables
On board Software parameters update on existing equipment (Eurostar trains +
engineering trains) for specific line speeds.
